80 Years of Liberation – 광복절 Motion Tribute
3D Motion Design
2025
A short 3D motion work created in Cinema 4D and After Effects to mark the 80th anniversary of Korea’s Liberation Day. The piece reimagines the Taegeukgi—the Korean national flag—through a tactile, handcrafted process. Cloth drapes into place to form the red yang and blue yin of the Taegeuk circle, metal plates slide in to reveal the trigrams, and textured wood frames the composition.
Each element carries symbolic meaning: the white background for peace and purity, the Taegeuk for harmony and balance, and the four trigrams for heaven, earth, water, and fire. Combining fabric simulation, rigid body dynamics, and cinematic lighting, the animation reflects both the physical making of the flag and the enduring spirit of liberation.
